'Late
Model Challenge' Joins RoC Dart Dirt Modifieds On Aug. 10
'Hot Summer Night' Special
SUSQUEHANNA, PA - Late Models will have their turn for a
high-profile event this season at Penn Can Speedway.
A 'Late Model Challenge' will join the Race of Champions
Dart Dirt Modified Tour Don's Automotive Mall 'Hot Summer
Night' program at the Susquehanna, Pa., oval on Tuesday
night, Aug. 10.
The 'Hot Summer Night' event is the second half of a
two-race big-block/small-block Modified 'Super Summer
Series' co-promoted by Brett Deyo and Penn Can track
operators Reed Miller and Al Wilcox. The first, dubbed the
'Clash at the Can,' is set for Tuesday night, June 8.
The inaugural 'Late Model Challenge' should pit the top
Grandview (Pa.) Speedway NASCAR Whelen All-American Series
Late Models stars versus the Penn Can regulars in a 25-lap
event. Limited Late Models from other venues fitting the
rules for the event are welcomed to participate as well.
Heat races will feature a draw for position with a redraw of
top qualifiers for the feature.
"Reed and Al are very proud of their Late Model division at
Penn Can," Deyo said. "I have the pleasure of watching the
Grandview Late Models on a weekly basis and recognize the
level of talent in that division.
"We feel the mix of Penn Can and Grandview regulars with
some additional invaders will produce a show fans won't want
to miss out on."
The feature will pay a minimum of $750 to the winner. That
number could increase with additional sponsorship revenue.

About the 'Super Summer Series'
Special events promoter Brett Deyo has partnered with Penn
Can Speedway co-promoters Reed Miller and Al Wilcox for a
pair of 'Super Summer Series' midweek races at the
Susquehanna, Pa., clay oval.
The first event, dubbed the 'Clash at the Can' is set for
Tuesday night, June 8. The 60-lap big-block/small-block
Modified race will offer a $4,000 top prize plus a $1,000
bonus should the winning driver take the $20 "Gambler's Fee"
option. Doug Borger's XCel 600 Modifieds will serve as the
support division.
The second race, assuming the 'Hot Summer Night' moniker, is
scheduled for Tuesday night, Aug. 10 with a similar format:
60 laps, $4,000 to the winner plus an additional $1,000
should the winner post the "Gambler's Fee." The 'Late Model
Challenge' will fill out the program.
Point standings will be tabulated for the 'Super Summer
Series' races. The champion of the series will earn $1,000
with contingency awards presented to others. Drivers must
attempt to qualify for both events to be eligible for

'Super Summer Series' RoC events.
