For the second consecutive year, Five Mile Point Speedway in Kirkwood, N.Y., will be the host facility for the Short Track SuperNationals on Columbus Day weekend. The 2010 SuperNationals dates are Friday-Saturday, Oct. 8-9.

A 50-lap big-block/small-block Modified feature will headline the program, with a possible $5,000-plus up for the winner. Tentatively, Pure Stocks, Four Cylinders and Vintage Modifieds will fill out the program.

All racing will be held on Saturday (Oct. 9), while an open practice session is planned for Friday evening (Oct. 8).

SuperNationals Modifieds rules will be relaxed to encourage participation from across the Northeast. Any 13- by 92-inch Modified tire will be allowed. Sail panels will be permitted. The race will be open to big- and small-block engine combinations running on gasoline or methanol.

The '10 running of the SuperNationals will be the third in the event's history. Kevin Hirthler of Boyertown, Pa., won the most recent event at Five Mile Point Speedway last October with a talent-laden field of 70 cars signing in for competition. Mike Ricci of Rosendale, N.Y., defeated a 54-car field to post the inaugural SuperNationals triumph at Afton (N.Y.) Speedway in 2006.

"Last year's SuperNationals was an overwhelming success," Deyo said. "We're looking to build off the 2009 event this October."
